| 42430 | 2002-04-07 08:35:00 | Hi, folks. I have just managed to get my hands on an old IBM Thinkpad 760EL and I am looking for some RAM for it. I have pulled pulled out the removable PCB containing the RAM modules and I note that there are two slots; one of which is occupied. Am I correct in assuming that laptops are like desktops in that classic Pentiums take SIMM modules whist more recent system take DIMMs? If so, I guess I would have to assume that laptops do not require SIMMs to be installed in pairs like desktops do. Also, is this machine likely to require proprietry RAM, or will any brand fit it as long as the module is the right size? |
