| 42729 | 2002-04-09 01:53:00 | Using XP Professional, I have noticed that the order in which files are listed in a folder when order-by-name is selected is not strictly alphanumeric, particularly where filenames starting with numbers are concerned. For example in a randomly selected graphics/pictures/video folder in my file system, I have filenames: 00.jpg, 0batch15.jpg, 0batch17.jpg, 1.avi, 01.jpg, 1.jpg, 1.mpg 01a.jpg, 1jef0.jpg, 2.avi, 002.jpg, 02.mpg, 2.mpg.... Is this a recognised bug in XP, or is my system behaving strangely? Or is there a setting somewhere that I have wrong? Steve B. |
