| 42681 | 2002-04-08 19:56:00 | I have lost my audio and attempts to reinstall the driver have been unsuccessful. When I go through the process of installing hardware, the sound card is found and identified as 'PCI Multimedia Audio Device' but which ever way I try, the driver is not found. I tried the Microsoft Windows update site and although it correctly identified the sound card as a plug and play device, it does not seem to have produced a correct driver. In device manager/system/other devices/general, the properties for PCIMAD shows 'the drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28)'.Under the drivers tab it says; 'No drivers have been loaded for the this device and none are needed'. Click update driver whilst online and it collects information from Win update, then reports that no driver was found. Grrrrr! With older computers I?ve always kept a copy of drivers on a floppy or CD, but this one does not appear to have come with a suitable driver and the advice I have from the manufacturer is to try the Windows update site. Well I did that to no avail. Suggestions much appreciated. |

If you get stuck email me with the soundcard brand and model and I will find it for you. |
