| 42611 | 2002-04-08 09:38:00 | My Win ME P700 will no longer talk to my Canon BJC 4200 printer - just prints a few smudges then form feeds. I have tried unsucessfully: Change printer cable Adding new printer Reload original print drivers Download new ME Canon drivers Reinstalling Win ME (locks during setup) Also tried successfully: Using printer with another PC Printing from DOS Any suggestions? |

Renboot and make sure that Windows does not know anything about it. Keep the downloaded installer files --- they will probably be best to use. If you have the original installation instructions which came with the printer, follow them. They might not agree with the normal Windows Wizardly method. (For example, Windows might want to se the hardware, then prompt you to install the software. To work properly the software might need to be installed first, then the printer physically connected.) It's all black magic. But you have checked that the printer is OK, and the printer works with DOS. Afterthought: what mode does Canon require for the printer port? ECP, EPP? Is it set that way in the BIOS? (This would probably *not* affect DOS printing). |
