I had the following question and the answer a reader gave.

It works on my machine, which is great, but does not work on my wife's machine, which seems to be running an 'earlier' version of Windows 98 and nor does it work for Windows 95.

Can anyone help fill in on these other O/S's.

Best regards,

Question

Does anyone know a freeware utility or within Win 98SE where I can get the drop down menu sorted alphabetically - when I use 'Start' and 'Programs' all the files are presented but in what order? I would like to have them displayed alphabeticaly so I can pick them up easily??

Anyone know how to help.

Answer

Quickest and easiest way is within Windows itself.
Start > programs > right click one of the items in the drop down menu and select Sort By Name.

Hope that helps

42577 2002-04-08 10:11:00 Hi Peter, In win95 highlight the folder Programs in C:\windows\startmenu, on the menu bar select view and 'arrange icons - by name' it should sort all the program folders followed by the single applications in the start - programs popup.
