| 42740 | 2002-04-09 06:24:00 | I've been using Slingshot since it started and it's great. I live in Auckland and connect at 53.2Kbps most of the time (in peak times it can be 52Kbps.) Download speeds range in the high 5KBps for international sites. Usually slightly faster for NZ based sites. Regarding busy signals: have experienced one or two in the last month during peak times. (Though these seem to be gone now.) Of course this all depends on where you live, phone line etc. Under Windows XP Pro i can download about 20MB in an hour. (12MB when i was using Windows 98SE). As i said...it all depends on your situation. Regarding the helpdesk: I've only had to email then once (about the busy signals) and they replyed within 48 hours saying that it would take a couple of days for the busy signals to halt as they were waiting on Telecom to supply more lines. The busy signals disappeared 4 days later. In my opinion they are as good as paradise (which i have switched my account to the AA Rewards Free Plan), plus it's cheaper, flat-rate, and you're not paying for tech support which you don't use. |
