| 42547 | 2002-04-08 03:43:00 | Hi Gang, Came across an interesting prob last night. I installed Easy CD Creator 4.01 last night and it wasn't compatible with XP. Fair enough I thought so I uninstalled it. Now when I start up XP, on every load it advised drivers were installed (refering to CD/DVD reader & Writer)that are not compatible with XP and that they have been disabled? Anyone know how to get rid of this? I would have thought a driver roll back would fix it. But XP's CD Rom drivers are already running on the correct ones (especialy since the Easy CD ones are apparently now disabled). Not to mention when I uninstalled it I would have thought it'd have removed the Easy CD drivers with it. Any ideas would be great? Cheers, Daniel |

(Make sure system files and hidden files and folders are searched (under advanced in the search window). 2) delete the two files. 3) restart. 4) your CD-rw may not worlk now, but don't worry, this next step will fix it. 5) Goto Start>Run and type regedit. This next step involves editing the registry, so make sure you back it up first. 6) Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} Delete the following registry values uder this key: UpperFilter, LowerFilter. Restart, and you are done. G P |

Only hiccup I have is that it doesn't specifically say which drivers rather a tab at the bottom opens up for a link to go to Roxio support(the company that handles Easy CD),& Microsoft support websites. Sure it mentions it's disabled some drivers for Read/Write CD rom drives but doesnt mention which ones. But that info you gaves a huge leap in the right direction. Thanks =) Daniel |
