| 42807 | 2002-04-09 08:43:00 | I have a USB D-Link DU-560M modem, and when i connect to the internet it hogs 60 to 70% of my CPU power.... it's the same in both Win98SE and Windows2000 Professional. This slows my system badly as it is a Pentium 200. When i start downloading this CPU usage increases and it is not uncommon to have the chart showing CPU useage holding steady at 100%...any help would be appreciated. P.S. it even affects performance on an Athlon XP1600+, and MP3's stutter. | Guest (0) | ||

If its a connexant based one the minimum is 500Mhz. There won't be much you can do, unless you buy a real modem (ie external serial) which doesn't need your cpu to work. |
