42778 2002-04-09 04:38:00 Don't know how practicle this is for you, but you could try taking the hard drive from the Win95 PC, set it to slave and put it into the Win2K computer, then copy the files you want from one hard drive to the other. Guest (0)
42779 2002-04-09 05:58:00 Have you got a CD-Writer on the older machine?

No? Didn't think so. How about direct cabling, which is different to networking as you only need a parallel cable, no network cards. It's slow but will do the job eventually.

42780 2002-04-09 07:26:00 I agree, moving the hard drive would be easiest.

As said, just change jumper and plug in.

If u have trouble post back.

42781 2002-04-09 08:47:00 The easiest way in my opinion is to get a laplink cable which connects printer port to printer port and use direct cable connection. You may need to install direct cable connection from the os cd. In the Control Panel/Network/Identification make sure they both have the same workgroup name and a different computer name. You will also need to share the folders on your hard drive. Guest (0)
42782 2002-04-09 08:52:00 If you ever do decide to network your win 2000 machine at all, for it to communicate at all with a 9x machine (95 and 98) you may have to download the updates from Microsoft. Start menu, Windows Update. May pay to do anyway as there are a lot of security patches etc. Guest (0)
