42797 2002-04-09 05:38:00 My computer no longer recognises the fact that I have a d or an e drive. It was working fine and now has suddenly stopped for no apparent reason.

Look forward to any possible help
Cheers

42798 2002-04-09 06:18:00 What are/were C: & D: drives?
Did they hang off the same cable, and is that cable still firmly on the motherboard?

42799 2002-04-09 06:56:00 they are my cdrw and dvd I think they are on the same cable and seem to be securely fitted to motherboard. I will go off line and check again
thanks jim

42800 2002-04-10 09:50:00 Are the drives showing up at the POST stage of booting - if necessary go into the BIOS and see if they are being recognised and let us know. Guest (0)
42801 2002-04-12 06:19:00 Thank you for your help I have solved the problem, my CD rw had given up the ghost and wasset up in tandem with my dvd, hence both drives were not recognised

thanks very much
