42744 2002-04-09 03:40:00 Hi, I would like to put a gforce 2 mx400 64mb graphics card in my computer. I have a chaintech mainboard (7AIA5) that has one 32bit AGP expansion slot. When I asked how much it would cost to do I was given a very high price because they said I had to buy a whole new mainboard. I was then told by a friend in the computer business that they were lying and all they would of needed to do was install the card and drivers then disable the onboard graphics in the bios. Can somebody tell me who is correct? Guest (0)

It looks like you've been tolda few porkies.

Sure enough some onboard motherboards are hard to configure, but I haven't come across one yet, where you can't disable the onboard video one way or another.

You can normally disable via bioss or in some acases via jumpers, but then if your board already has an AGP slot, then I'd be surprised if you can't disable the onboard video through bioss.

Best of luck,

Daniel

Gforce 2 mx400's rock!!!

GeForce 2 mx400's don't exactly rock. They will play most games, but the new Doom3 (when it is released) won't play very well at all on it.
