My sound card is based on the FM801 chipset and has 6 channel output. When i recently installed windows 2000 i got the latest drivers and it worked ok except that the back speakers and sub werent working so i installed some older drivers. Any how, i since realised that the hardware wasnt connected to the amp properly. Now i tried to reinstall the card and it detects it fine and asks me for the drivers etc. What happens next is that within Sounds and Multimedia it says there is no play back device - hence my sound wont work. I have tried changing PCI slots to no avail. I have manually removed all the drivers from windows\system32 and also deleted any reference to them in the registry. i am at whits end. any help would be much appreciated. |
