| 43151 | 2002-04-10 21:06:00 | I have a p111 comp. with an Intel SE440bx-2 motherboard. As it uses a slot 1 processor it can not be upgraded, so I am thinking of replacing the mb and cpu. I plan on useing a P4 2000 cpu with a mb that supports PC133 ram. I forget the chipset model at the moment. All other components are very up to date so I don't feel like throwing them out. My main concern is the power supply. I understand the p.4 needs a different voltage to the p.3. I assume the power supply can be replaced. Is there any problem doing this? I'm a bit dubious about playing with something I know nothing about. Someone told me the Athlon processor uses the same voltage as the P.3. Is this the case? Would this mean just a mb swap? Am I being realistic or will I blow the whole thing up.I know I could get someone to do it for me,BUT I want to do it myself. Any help or suggestions would be realy appreciated.By the way, I am over 70 years old. Thanks, Jack Gruschow |

I agree about the ram,but I have 1024 megs of pc100 and Pc 130 (mixed). It was all bought before the price dive.Over $1000's worth and I am not going to throw it away. J.G. |
