43144 2002-04-10 19:43:00 Have just had a CD burner fitted an ACER 24x10x40 with PRASSI PrimoCD PLUS software,
(another great learning curve)can anyone help,I'm a little confused over speeds, like what speed should I use to copy an audio cd, and what speed is best for a data cd

43145 2002-04-10 20:38:00 The speed depends on how good your PC is. If you are prepared to risk wasting a few CDs then you can try 12 and 16. I have found no difference between audio and data speed.
I always use 8x even though I have 12 and 16 available.
The CD media is also a factor - sometimes it prohibits speeds greater than 8x.
Unless you are impatient, I would stick to 8x

43146 2002-04-10 21:07:00 I usually keep my music and video burning to x4. If burning backups to a CDRW I usually just heave in the CDRW and let fly. If copying data onto a CD though, I usually go for the slower speed of x4 again. At x4 650mb will take about 18 minutes.

Another point which applies to this system at least is to defrag before you start burning.
