43110 2002-04-10 10:50:00 Have purchased a m766lmrt m/b from an online auction and suspect it may have a fault. It keeps stopping at the post. It lists the cpu ok ( a pII 350mghz mmx) but reads:
sdram at row(s) : 0 (cl = 3)
Searching for boot record from floppy?. Not found
Searching for boot record from IDE- 0 ..OK

Invalid system disk
Replace the disk and then press any key

There is no disk in the floppy drive and if I press any key it presents this message:
Searching for boot record from IDE- 1.._

At this point it just hangs and doesn?t do anything else and not even Ctrl-Alt-Del does anything. Also when I go into the bios to check the settings it locks up. I was wondering whether it had anything to do with the ram as I only have one stick of pc100 which is only 16mgs and I?m not sure if it is enough. I?ve tried several different hdd?s all of which I know to be good and none of them will boot. Can anyone shed any light on this please.
Have I brought a dud??

If you are using HDD's out of other computers, then you are just dreaming if you think they will bootup, when they are put into a completely different computer. You might get lucky.

You need to put a startup disk in the floppy and boot up, then see if it can read C drive. If it can't then you probably need to alter the bios to recognize your HDD.

43115 2002-04-11 09:49:00 Hi

But no post beeps KO.

Wouldn't that suggest ram, motherboard, cmos or psu? depending on the motherboard and bios brands.

Then again, just re-read the post. Its trying to find a system disk or HDD. Well worth a try.

Cheers
