43013 2002-04-10 06:45:00 RAID (Redundant Array of Inexpensive/Independent Disks) is a way of getting multiple idependent/inexpensive hard disks to work together to either act as one large high speed disk. Or as a way of kepping a duplicate of your harddrive on another harddrive.

IDE (Integrated/Intelligent Drive Electronics) is a connection method for harddrives/CD-ROM/CD-RW/DVD/etc.

A RAID array can be made with either IDE or SCSI (Small Computer Systems Interface) harddrives.

My motherboard has 2 hard drives off the RAID/IDE3 controller and has CD ROM Devices running off the IDE1 and IDE2 connectors.
