| 42988 | 2002-04-10 03:59:00 | Trying to print from a DOS program over the network the program requires the printer to be assigned to LPT4 - I have managed to find the command - net use lpt4:\\printer\sharename which seems to work (came up saying successful). However the program will still not print, I have also tried printing a file to lpt4 (by: copy c:\test.txt lpt4) this comes up saying 1 file copied and the printer responses by making a few noises but nothing prints out. The printer is a Unisys laser have also tried to print to a Ricoh. Both printers print fine from Windows (test pages etc.) Other OS (95, 98, 2000) on the network have no problems printing from this program. Please help! |

Solution was to install netbui set of protocols as well & you should find it prints. You will have TCP/Ip allready but XP seems to want netbui as well for network printing of DOS programs. Worth a try |

The file I was trying to print to DOS from the command prompt appeared to be too small, so added a few more lines and it printed fine. Have found that the DOS program will still not print to LPT4 or anything above that, but will print to LPT1,2 and 3. Thanks |
