42961 2002-04-10 03:19:00 At work we use windows NT and I want to burn some stuff onto a cd, what or is there a cd burner that i can purchase which is up-to-date/new in aspects of burning and playing time. Also is it better to get a internal cd burner or external cd burner for windows nt. I really want an external burner that can go on burn on windows nt, xp and 98. Is this possible/

Thanks im only a newbie to this.

42962 2002-04-10 06:56:00 Yes it would be possible to use an external CDRW, but unless it is using FireWire (IEEE1394) or USB2 (unlikely) it will be at a slow speed.

It is possible to get external burners that will connect via USB, Serial, or FireWire.

42963 2002-04-10 07:31:00 I think internal is the way to go, even if you want to swap it between machines it is pretty quick and simple to plug in (IDE & power).

Also cheapest.

You can even buy a case that takes your internal drive(IDE) and makes it external.

42965 2002-04-10 23:01:00 Actually, you need to remember that NT doesn't support USB or firewire... I recently put in an old 2X kodak from home onto my work computer... had to download an ASPI layer before it would allow data transfer to an IDE device??? I think that's what I read on the site I got the layer from anyway... but NT is very picky about what you can and can't do... CD-writing is a hassle to setup, but works fine for me now. Guest (0)
