| 43088 | 2002-04-10 09:54:00 | so the problem is something like this. whenever we used to boot up the pc, windows would load, and then a window would pop up saying 'Windows encountered an error accessing (or something like that) the registry, click ok to reboot and windows will try to fix it'...so we would reboot, and the same message would appear. Eventually we got fed up, so i just removed scanreg from the startup apps, and now i feel that the problem isnt gonna go away, so i was wondering if there was any reg utility that u guys thought was 'excellent'(i think ive tried all the ones from the cover disks :S), and if not, any tips to actually FIX this problem, and if more details are needed, ill give them, thnx. sa|ad |

| 43089 | 2002-04-10 10:45:00 | Usually when a machine in our house gets to this stage, we back up the data (once to zip disks at the speed of a floppy drive!) and do a total format and reload of the operating system. | Guest (0) | ||
| 43090 | 2002-04-10 11:05:00 | I'm still waiting for the perfect registry repair tool (and that's probably right up there next to Microsoft developing a perfect OS). The next best thing is 'Regcleaner' (not the MS Regclean) from www.jv16.org, this does a fairly effective job of cleaning the registry and may help. Good luck. |
