| 43298 | 2002-04-11 09:28:00 | Hi, I just recently installed Windows XP and its great, but now gaming LAN does not work. Transfering files over network is fine and we can see eachother in Network Neighborhood, but whenever we try to play Quake 3 or Battle Realms over LAN, we can't even see eachother's games in the menu. Prior to installing Windows XP, I had Win2k and gaming LAN worked fine. My network adaptor is a Surecom 320X-R 10/100 Mbs PCI Adaptor and my hub is a D-Link 805TP. Do I have to download new drivers for my hardware, or does the problem lie with the software? |

I installed XP over 98 and my LAN is easier than ever. Quake II, Half Life and Grand PRix 3 all work fine. We had problems with ZoneAlarm though - do you have that running? Make sure XP, ZoneAlarm or any other firewall you have is not blocking access, especially ZA as you'll need to tell it that it's ok for your games (apname.exe) to access the other PC... |
