| 43278 | 2002-04-11 08:11:00 | Hi, can anyone tell me how to set up a computer to share an internet connection over a LAN. Also, is it possible to write a batch file which will take a text input, and then insert it as the message part of a net send command. I want to be able to automate messages to another computer so I don't have to write 'net send computername' every time. Cheers G P |

Or does it accept the entire string? Does the message thus need to be inside quotes 'like this'? Thanks Bruce - rather not pay though. G P |

| 43284 | 2002-04-15 01:02:00 | Hi Graham, I want to share internet connections too - do you mind telling me which proxy server you chose, where you found it, and how well it works? I've no idea how to set up a proxy server but presume it's not too hard. thanks john |

What I ended up with (and I am extremely pleased) is proxy by AnalogX. This is a very small utility that uses little memory, so I don't mind loading it at startup. Configuration consists of one box where you indicate what types of access and protocols you want to accept, and you also have to set up the proxy configurations on the client computers internet options. [I will give instructions if you need them, but the readme file that comes with AnalogX has pretty decent instructions] You only need to install analogX on the host computer - it doesn't have client applications, so there is less room for errors. And finally, where can you get it? <www.webattack.com along with many other freeware options. AnalogX is about halfway down the page. Hope this helps G P |
