43206 2002-04-11 01:07:00 We've recently purchased a Toshiba TE2000 running Win2000 with a built-in modem (Toshiba Software Modem AMR). We normally connect to the internet via a proxy connection. When I try to access the internet with it it carries out the dial up, says that it's connected to the remote computer, and we can ping to remote sites, but it doesn't load a web page. Yes, we make sure that we've turned off the proxy settings in Explorer tools, options.

We've tried updating the Toshiba driver, accessing different ISPs, installing a PC Card modem and still no difference.

Any pointers on sorting this out would be most appreciated.

43208 2002-04-11 02:29:00 We normally connect to the net via proxy over the LAN. However I would also like to be able to use the computer to browse the web away from the LAN over a Dial up connection straight out to the internet.
(I don't want to connect via Dial up to the office LAN.)

So, I change the following settings under Internet Options, connections: select Always dial my default connection, and got to LAN settings and untick Use a Proxy Server.

And ... no luck as described in my first post.

43209 2002-04-11 06:23:00 to connect via lan .... go to the settings tick never dial a connectionn . On the bottom chose lan settings .. and put them in as approp.

When on modem all u do is goto lan settings and choose 'untick use proxy server' under lan settings. I just leave it as it is and dial modem manually via a shortcut.
