43210 2002-04-11 01:40:00 Hi I have recently upgraded my pavilion 4512 to winxp pro, but have come across a couple of problems.
1. I have a rockwell modem with the audio riptide chipset, (hcf) and though xp sets up the audio it wont recognise the modem??
2. When the hourglass is working, or I move my mouse I get a feedback noise through the speakes.

I have tried reinstalling the modem to no avail though I did find that once I had removed the modem from device manager there was no feedback noise, then when xp detects new hardware, eg simple communiction device pci, even if I just kill off the popup as soon as it dissapears the feedback starts back up again.

Puzzling?????

43211 2002-04-11 03:38:00 Chris, I don't know if this is any help but I have a SpeedCom+ modem with a rockwell chipset. XP found and installed my modem as ...
Best Data Data Fax Modem which seems to work OK.
Might be worth trying Control Panel/New Hardware Wizard option.

43212 2002-04-11 03:41:00 Rockwell is now conexant. Visit www.conexant.com. XP did pick up my HSF modem though and installed it as a Soft 56K modem but I've updated the drivers and now it's displayed properly as what it is. Guest (0)
