43717	2002-04-14 03:08:00	I think that there is a hardware malfunction in your printer. ;-) . Specifically, a sensor which is supposed to inform the printer's computer that the carriage has reached the lefthand stop is not operating. There will be a software timer to stop the motor running forever if the sensor is not operated in a 'reasonable' time. That's what is causing the error message. There is a *possibility* that if the printer has been powered off with the head not in the 'rest' position at the far right, it *might* operate the sensor too soon. You could try, WITH THE POWER OFF, moving the head carriage to the rest position. Then turn it on. If that doesn't work, then the sensor is most likely to be faulty. It is *possible* but unlikely for the plugs to the sensor to come undone. I don't know the model, but it will probably be an opto-interruptor, or microswitch (or even a Hall Effect magnetic sensor). Get an estimate/quote before you say 'Fix it'. Unless you can repair it yourself, labour charges are the killer. Modern equipment is not meant to be repaired.	Guest (0)
