43645 2002-04-13 12:29:00 hi there

can anyone tell me whether file sharing under tcp for my network is dodgy? i use blackice firewall but worry about being hacked with file and print sharing enabled (which i have to have)

i have two computers, winME and tcp only network

thanks

Sharing is a risk, but this can be minimised by making sure that you do not share your entire drive contents.

Less is more, only share folders that need to be shared.

43647 2002-04-14 01:19:00 one of the main reasons i like to use a different protocol for file & print sharing is that often the tcp/ip is tweaked to suit the net connection which normally(for dailup) slows the lan(tcp/ip) right down to net speed(eg 3k/s on a 100b/s lan) Guest (0)
