43863 2002-04-15 03:03:00 Have just installed Windows XP and am having a difficult time logging onto our network. Can see it but not able to access it. Not even asked to logon. Help! Guest (0)
43864 2002-04-15 04:59:00 Try enabling the guest account on all computers with XP, as network access uses the guest account by default...

If you then want to use another account (ie turn the guest account back off or get a higher level of access), leave another post and i'll give you the steps, it is quite complex...

I you do not want users to be able to log on as guest from the logon screen, but still use the guest account for networking (the easiest and most trouble free method) you can get a tweaking program that will remove the guest account from the logon screen.

43865 2002-04-15 06:28:00 More to the point, what type of network? - client/server or peer-to-peer

could you access shared resources before and if so on what OS?

are resources shared?

how did you step through the final stage of installation of XP?

have you tried reinstalling XP?
