43996 2002-04-15 21:51:00 I have a friend in the US, who has an full speed asdl connection, and is running an ftp server. when i 1st connect to the server and start downloading a file, it starts of fast, than slows down to 0.2 kb/s (within minutes) and then hangs.Other friends from around the workd can connect & D/L ok (i use winme his server winnt). I connect to his machine on port 2120. Any ideas as to why it is slowing down. Has it got something to do with the port were using and Telecoms 'traffic Management'? Guest (0)
43997 2002-04-19 06:58:00 Yes, it has been suggested that Xtra don't throttle particular ports, they throttle them all then add exceptions for Web and other 'normal' [read sanitised, proxied, cached] protocols. Xtra are a bunch of rats. Instead of putting a monthly cap on traffic, they torture low volume users as well as leachers by doing this. They are so moronic that they charge the same for local traffic as international, claiming they can't tell the difference. Other ISPs can do this easily. Guest (0)
