43973 2002-04-15 10:33:00 I'm going overseas in a few days and we'd like to let those sending us e-mails that I'll be away for several weeks. I'm using Outlook Express on my home office PC but don't see any option for this, yet regularly get that response from others.
Is this only a network option or am I not looking in the right place. OE's Help doesn't seem to offer any help.

43974 2002-04-15 11:01:00 Autoresponders are a facility that is (or is not) provided by your ISP. Have a check on your ISP's website or check with their helpline to find out if they offer such. Guest (0)
43975 2002-04-15 23:17:00 OE does provide the option of auto replies though the downside is that it does remember who has been sent a auto reply and sends it for each new message. The auto reply can be created using a plain email or in html.
Quickest way around this is to simply create a email and save it as a eml file, eg, in My Documents.
Now, go into OE and highlight a message, any message will do, click Message on the toolbar, the first box is ticked by default in where it says Where the Sender is, in the second section scroll down and tick the option Reply with Message, go to the third section and on the two links provided, point the Message link to where you have saved the eml file, on the other link which should be the address of the message you highlighted, left click once and that brings up another window in which there is a ADD line, click the Address Book tab and enter in all the remaining names you want to be included in this rule.
With this system you can also tailor several messages containing veraious info and then create rules to suit who gets which message.
Whether you create a simple plain email or include a image of a sunset, colour background, etc, thats upto you.

43976 2002-04-15 23:48:00 Too early in the morning.... I should have noted in the above reply that for this to work the emails have to be downloaded to your inbox before a reply is sent so it is also assumed that someone is downloading your mail on your behalf from the isp. Guest (0)
