| 1296322 | 2012-08-23 01:48:00 | Hello all, I own a Dell XPS Laptop until day before yesterday everything was prfectly alright with regards to me logging on to the Internet via my Belkin modem wirelessly. Used the laptop for almost 8 hrs without any connection failures. Yesterday I put my system on (first time in the day) and it got connected to the modem wirelessly almost immediately as always with 'Excellent' connection strenght (all 5 green bars showing), however I could not connect to the Internet for some reason. When I hoover my mouse over the network connection icon in the tray (bottom right hand corner) it says 'limited access. No Internet connection'. This has never happened before. I then tried to connect to the Internet using the LAN wire (hard wired the Laptop to the modem) yet I could not get Internet access. This is strange because in the past hard wiring the modem has always worked. Please note that the Internet supply from my provider (Orcon) is perfect as I could logon on to the internet via both my mobile phones (same modem) I have tried everything that I can think of such as setting the Firewall Off but that does not work either. Can anyone please suggest something...... Thank you all. Aspi. |

Traditionally if you can connect to the router but it says "no connectivity" it means your internet link between your router and Orcon has dropped. However if you've got your Phone and things on alright at the same time, that more points to potentially being a DHCP issue. |

| 1296327 | 2012-08-24 03:37:00 | Most modern DSL modems have a web page to get access to it. Note it's very important your Windows firewall software is enabled and up-to-date before you try any of the following. If you have a Ethernet cross-over cable you can cable up to it directly. If not, you can use a hub/switch between your laptop and DSL modem. Note a lot of network devices are now smart enough to not need a network cross-over cable. en.wikipedia.org Now fire up your web browser, and launch the DSL web page. Usually this is 192.168.2.1 and leave the password field blank, but it could be anything. See this self-help guide for more info www.belkin.com 0Or%20Cable%20Modem.pdf |
