2012-04-30 05:11:00 | Northland thieves target live power lines (www.nzherald.co.nz) Why don't the Police come out publicly and state that they will prosecute any dealer trading in copper wire?? :( :(

2012-04-30 06:04:00 | + 1 Zippy. Police need to have a big round-up of scrap dealers, they are all dodgy (assumption - non fact) and often accept stolen metal. Chch lot are really bad, accepting stolen lead and hot water cylinders from red-zone houses around town.

2012-04-30 08:10:00 | Scrap metal dealers usually as dodgy at tow truck drivers. Last year I was selling some scrap steel at the Concourse. Guy in front of me wrote down a rego number which wasnt the rego number of his car which had its number plate visible. I pointed this out to someone there and they said " so what" Although the scrap may be bypassing the dealers and going into containers and heading for communist china.

2012-04-30 09:57:00 | And once again, you miss the point. Then please enlighten me as they have prosecuted scrap metal dealers.

2012-04-30 10:16:00 | Thieves have little regard for the cost to the owner of goods that they steal from. Neither do they care about the danger that they put people in through their actions. All they care about is their own personal gain. Receivers of stolen goods are as guilty as the thieves (in this case scrap metal merchants).
