| 1272365 | 2012-04-27 19:00:00 | I'm a few days late on posting this - but about three-four-five days ago I was walking out of a market here in Hamilton, (the USA version) and I was accosted by a lady who asked me if I would like a free book . Now I LIKE free things - but most things that are free have a hook, so I asked her what the affiliation as and she said there was none none - it was a truly free book . International Book Night she called it . Actually it was: "World Book Night" (http://www . us . worldbooknight . org/) - my bad . Anyway ----> I took her book - and unfamiliar with the title, I really just tossed it into my car and took it home . It's called 'The Book Thief' ( . wikipedia . org/wiki/The_Book_Thief" target="_blank">en . wikipedia . org) (Warning - plot and characters revealed!) - not something I would normally take a second glance toward, but I Googled it and found it had very high marks on the current reader's list - so I dug in . Great book - great characters - ONE of whom you'll never guess who he is - but a good read nonetheless . OK - the book review is really a sidebar here - I wanted to ask if any of youse guys had somewhat near the same experience with a free book? Was this truly an international happening - or wasn't Upsidedown Land considered? |

| 1272367 | 2012-04-28 03:07:00 | Its not a publisher thing. It s a people thing, give someone a book, pass it on type thing. I've heard it here, no-one has given me a book as yet though. |

| 1272368 | 2012-04-28 09:29:00 | The only free book given to me is a Mormon book, which I have never opened. It's just the guys from Utah were friendly and professional looking, and yeah I just wanted to talk to some US citizens, and my mother was partly raised by Mormons. | kahawai chaser (3545) | ||

| 1272372 | 2012-04-29 10:06:00 | Geez, the only free one I get given is the clock tower magazine, although the paper recycling truck driver gave us boxes of um girls mags, but they have since gone out of style, plus you had to watch out for the odd sticky page But yes book exchanging sounds a great idea |
