Was quite stocked this morning to see that my application for a refund of Road User Charges had been aproved for use on a Road not identified as a Road for the Road Transport Act but used as access by the general public.

No shock more I guess surprise at the amount. Took a lot of proof to get the amount which is still under what we calculated but better than nothing. Another fella in the same line of work has a digital Hubometer so it is easier for him as the GPS calculates the amount of of public highway to the exact amount. It is surprising how many do not realise that you can claim back road user charges for places you do not have to pay them, trick though is to provide evidence and proof. Most the time not worth the hassle but for us it is and was worth the hassle.

This self employed lark certainly has its benefits over being a Paye, no wonder the country is farked...lol

1272233 2012-04-28 03:32:00 You dont drive Commercial/Heavy Transport vehicles I guess?

I used a logbook and other records the other guy has a Digital Hubometer, you can not program them or tamper with them. Oh and before anyone suggests falsifying records...dont even think about it....Audits can cost way more than what you are claiming.
