| 1271751 | 2012-04-24 23:33:00 | What a pile of crap software. Got dropped off a lappy last night HP Pavilion dv9000 - quite nice, running Vista HP. Guy said "there might be a virus on it, it keeps on bringing up a screen telling me it is infected and wants my credit card details to buy a programme". Ah-ha, had an idea what that was... System was running Avast Internet Security and had an out-dated Malwarebytes on it. So, it had some rogue AV software called "Security Shield 2012" - one of those fake pain-in-the-ass programmes. Dug around and removed all that, booted Avast Internet Security out, installed MSE and did a full scan, 3 hours and 7 viruses/exploits later it reports all clean. So what a useless pile of software AIS is. |

| 1271753 | 2012-04-24 23:39:00 | Rogue software can be a bugger to remove. And some AV programs cant remove them (depending on WHAT the rogue software is). Sometimes, you have to use something like rkill to kill its processes, before anything can remove the rest of it | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||

And to fix it, you'll have to buy the program. And even if you buy it, it'll do absolutely nothing. The other rogue programs will tell you your hdd is ready to die or something, and windows will pop up all over the place, asking you to buy it to fix it. And as above, if you buy it, it wont do anything If you come across any of these programs, remove them. And ignore what theyre telling you |

You can be "perfectly happy" with it thinking your computer is virus free and its doing a good job, but the reality is that your system may have infections and you dont even know about it because the crappy AV software isnt even detecting them. As for your assumption.... nah, I'm a Mac user and Macs dont get viruses lol MSE is good enough for me :) |

Although after updating malwarebytes and running that, it didnt pick it up either - which surprised me a bit. |
