| 1271771 | 2012-04-26 03:05:00 | I would probably class it as malware, not spyware. Although after updating malwarebytes and running that, it didnt pick it up either - which surprised me a bit. Spyware = malware, whatever. Not a virus stuff. This is why you run more than one antispyware program, updated first of course. And if you KNOW it's got something, Hijackthis will find it. |

AV programs shouldnt be making a distinction, they should be attempting to detect them all. After all, this is what they all claim to do, so a 2nd program like Malwarebytes 'shouldn't' be needed, in a perfect world :) Doing a cleanup You also need to set phasers to kill, ie set the AV/malware scanner to scan all files . By default , most av/malware scanners wont scan all files. Also have a look at what it finds & where before jumping to conclusions. Allow for some false positives & 'infections' that are inconsequential. eg old temp files,java files, email archives, system restore & quarantined items from other AV programs . |
