2012-08-20 10:16:00 | Sounds a little like the HDD is getting ready to go great big dead HDD place in the sky - and no I dont mean iCloud lol :) The drive that's playing up- is it a Seagate ? If so check the model number, it also sounds like the symptoms of the ones with faulty firmware. www.tomshardware.com

2012-08-20 10:32:00 | Drive that is playing up is a almost new WD Blue. Model Number: wd5000aakx | icow (15313) | |
2012-08-20 11:20:00 | What happens if the WD drive is attached and booted from a Live CD, something like Ubuntu ? If its hanging then if possible get the data off ( if you haven't already) it could be a RMA ( warranty) job. If its freezing on boot it could be faulty.

Booted to windows fine, didn't crash" and with the 250GB drive it was good as well. Which if it played up on only one drive the drive may have been putting an abnormal load on the PSU somehow, other wise it should have played up with any HDD. |

2012-08-21 10:22:00 | imgur.com Apparently it was the psu. Not sure what your photo is supposed to say... if it played up on only one drive the drive may have been putting an abnormal load on the PSU somehow, other wise it should have played up with any HDD. Perhaps there was something wrong with that specific power plug you were using for that HDD?
