| 44089 | 2002-04-16 08:37:00 | I have recently done a full windows update, and installed all the latest security patches and updates. Trouble is, my printer doesn't work afterwards. I'm running win2k pro, with an HP 948c. Tried reinstalling printer drivers, but didn't help. Printer loads paper, and prints one line of random characters, and then stops. Hardware manager says printer port is operating okay (even reinstalled printer PORT).But hardware manager doesn't list me having any printers installed! HP software says the printer is installed and drivers are working okay. But when I try to reinstall, HP setup can't detect my printer (connected direct to PC using parallel cable), but loads the drivers anyway. BIOS settings for paralell port are matching those listed for the printer driver - what's happeing? Everything worked before the update. And the latest update isn't able to be uninstalled. HP website trouble-shooting guide says I may need to to a clean install if running win NT. Any suggestions before I do a clean install? Is it possible it'll work with a USB cable? (Don't want to spend more money on another cable if it still won't work) | Guest (0) | ||

HP peripherals are notorious for software foulups requiring patches. | Guest (0)

His advice to him was to not install updates as they can cause unneccesary grief. Sorry but sounds like you have ended up with this. I'm not sure but i guess a fresh re-install may be the only answer | Guest (0)
