44285 2002-04-17 07:23:00 Hi there,

I'm begining to think this might be one for the experts...

I've got two graphics cards: An nVidia GF2 MX 32MB, and a Matrox Mystique, with a Rainbow Runner Capture card strapped on.

As far as I can tell, Windows will only allow me to run both cards if the Matrox Card is selected as the primary display in Bios. If I use the AGP card (GF2 MX), it says that the Matrox Card is not installed. Installing it results in the AGP Card not working...

I want Windows to swap this over, so that the monitor on the AGP Card is the one on which 'things happen'...

I want programs to open on the AGP Card, with the Monitor on it. At present, if I load Unreal Tournament, it loads on the Matrox Card (which is 2MB), and gives a crappy frame-rate on a washed-out monitor...not cool!

I want UT to load onto the Good Graphics board and monitor, along with all other programs, so that they run fast, and look ok.

What I'm asking essentially is: How do I make my good card and monitor the primary ones?

nView (a program by nVidia for dual displays) looks as though it might be of some help, but it is designed to use two displays on the same card, which I can't do, as mine is single head.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Erin

44286 2002-04-17 08:28:00 I had the same problem myself, except i could not even install the second graphics card, while my primary one was installed, until:

I went into the BIOS and set the VGA BOOT FROM setting to 'PCI BUS' instead of AGP.

You may think this will make windows run on the crappy screen, but no, the bootup will appear on the crappy one, but windows will remeber which one the primary one is, in its own setup and use that for windows appz.

Hope this helps,
Craig.

44287 2002-04-17 11:11:00 Hi,

BIOS does boot the PCI card, then when windows loads, it says it has detected the good monitor, and this monitor displays a little box (looks like DOS), and then loads as usual, sharing the desktop over both monitors.

However, when I load games, they load onto the primary monitor, the crappy one...

How do I tell windows that I want the other one as the primary display?

Thanks,

Erin
