I've just done a clean install of win98 on a celeron 900 - modem is internal 56k but I don't know any more about it than that. Rather than automatically installing the modem on boot I get an error saying there's a piece of unknown (communication)hardware. After messing with a driver CD I get it loaded OK (although the comm port seems to vary each time I do it??) - the modem settings within the control panel say 'working ok'. However when I try to conect to ISP the dial-up box tells me there's no dial tone - modem is either switched off, not installed, or has a problem etc. Worked just fine a few days ago. Anyone any ideas? Thanks. |
