| 44704 | 2002-04-20 01:18:00 | Hi everyone, I'm setting up a home network with about 6 computers and I'm looking at high-speed internet connections for the machines to utilise. At the moment I have Telecom Jetstart, which gives me decent ping and traceroutes, but download speeds leave a lot to be desired (16K a second). Right now I'm considering a frame relay connection or a wireless connection, because both are stable and reliable (or so I'm told), and they provide unlimited data transfers. So, can anyone tell me which I should get? Frame relay is around $600.00 per month and wireless is around $350.00 per month. Setup costs are similar. |

I gain alot of amusement at the people constantly complaining about jetstart, jetstream, dialup, and indeed any service that somehow involves telecon. DSL should be good, but there are those out there (no names needed) who have a long history of never quite getting anything right. If 128kb/sec is enough, then with all you lot sharing a CM, it should be most economical too! |

No cable is not available in my area, I'm very skeptical towards Walker Wireless, and Paradise Broadband has a data limit (I expect to be using well over 100gb a month of traffic). I've found a good frame relay provider - they're offering $1000 per month for 512k of dedicated international bandwidth, and 1024k of national bandwidth. One catch, there IS a data limit - 48gb incoming, 24gb outgoing. Has anyone seen better? Or is this an offer I can't refuse? |
