44661 2002-04-19 22:11:00 Hi Donna

Given the early hour of your post, some incoherence can be expected but if you want serious help you would be well advised to take a deep breath then start again.

Think your problem through then post a properly detailed account of your problem with system details and any other info that others might need to understand your problem. Thaesame goes for your OEM Inf post.

You could get lucky as on your present post because there are some real experts out there who might know exactly what you mean, but the rest of us need to know a little more about what's going on before we venture an opinion.

Cheers

44662 2002-04-19 22:40:00 sorry, after looking at the question, see what you mean. well, I had a mess on th pc had to reboot after error rpcss stated coming up .and then reinstall win me. Now the scanner cannot be found . that is all the message says.so called HP he ran me through all the tests and I had reinstalled the software said every thing was there they have been having these call ins a lot and said they have been having good luck buying a usb hub 2.0 claims the intel ports are to fast they think.and then I found thousands of oem inf files with zero bytes deleted them but I have been trying to find out how they develope and what to do about it. thanks in advance Guest (0)
44663 2002-04-20 13:12:00 Hi Donna, I have posted this elswhere as well. HP should be able to provide you with an update disk for your scanner and ME. This solved the problem for me.Ring their 0800 # and speak to scanner support. They supplied the disk for free and the next day.
Cheers Craig

44664 2002-04-20 16:05:00 when I was searching for info I found some stuff on this rpcss problem .It seems it is a protocol that microsoft puts in its software to capture info from us so we can't cheat them by using withe other set ups I read that they will have it perfected in the future .but right now it sure did make a mess out of my puter.I didn't find an 800 # for support HP except for sales. there support # is long distance
I already have spent $50 or more on calls..
no wonder sales are dropping on new computers haha
