| 44861 | 2002-04-21 01:19:00 | i have an application(.exe, its a dialer of sorts) someone downloaded from the internet, i keep uninstalling it (but it seems to reapear each time i turn the computer back on). I found the file and tried to delete and remove to recycle folder, but i keep getting a message saying 'access denied, maked sure the disc is not full or write protected and the file is not being used'. Does anyone have any ideas how to get rid of this programme? I run XP on my computer. | Guest (0) | ||

May sure by pressing Alt/Crtl/Del and check that none of these programs or the app itself is running, if it is highlight and click 'end task'. Still no joy, right click on the app and check the properties. Untick the boxes such as 'read only' etc if they are ticked, and try deleting it again. Another option is to wander across to the 'download' section of this site and check out the 'Unistallers', that may work a heaps better than the standard MS one. |

Try running msconfig from your start/ run menu and look up in the start up group for reference to the file also... Lesson number one don't click on won,t you don't under stand . If a dialog box comes up when surfing and you don;t want anything to do with it, as it is quite common this days for apps. to run when you click on their cancel/ close tag ; Your should push ALT F4 to kill that app.. |
