| 45038 | 2002-04-22 06:53:00 | I own a Celeron 900Mhz CPU on a MSI 6368 motherboard(which supports over-clocking). My query is.. how high (in Mhz) can I push the Celeron without risking damage to it. I have been told Overclocking it to 1000Mhz won't do it any harm as long as there's enough cooling in the system. I also am aware of the dangers of over-clocking but I would like to know if this would improve performance even by just a little bit. | Guest (0) | ||

With Celeron's you don't have to worry about cooking the processor as they are designer to lockup as soon as they get too hot. With mine I can clock it to 1014mhz but it quickly reaches 51 degrees and freezes. Note that Celerons do need to run cooler than other chips - for eg I know of AMD's that can run stable at 70+ degrees. let the overclocking commence! dan |
