45000 2002-04-22 00:34:00 G'day

Anyone unfortunate enough to follow the long-running saga of my NIC/internet lockouts will recall that the problem was caused by entries for TweakUI and TweakDUN in my startup menu (as accessed via msconfig).

Both programs have been uninstalled but their entries remain in the startup menu. This morning my lockouts returned and I immediately checked the above menu and sure enough, they were ticked again.

Unticking fixed the problem as expected, but how do I remove these entries from this menu so that it can't happen again. Maybe I'm blind but I can't see any way to edit the list or remove entries for non-existent programs.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Jim

45001 2002-04-22 01:13:00 you can edit the registry but i find regcleaner far easier to use. only catch with regcleaner is if the startup prog as already been disabled(in msconfig) then it won't show in regcleaner. Guest (0)
45002 2002-04-22 02:45:00 Hi Jim,
If you are brave enough to dig around in the registry, you should find the entrys for these programs in:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run- (the Run- is for disabled keys); check in the other 'Run' folders around the same area, if you can't find the ones you want.

'Perserverance may be the key, but its not much use when the locks been changed'
