45130 2002-04-22 22:31:00 I am building a machine with a Gigabyte GA-7VTXE+ Motherboard. This board has on-board sound card, that autodetects under Windows XP as AC97, although it documents that it should be Creative PCI128. The AC97 driver appears to install wihtout a problem however I get no sound out of the speakers. There appears to be nothing on Gigabytes web site about this. Can any1 shed some light on what may be going wrong.

Mb : GA-7VTXE
RAM : 256MB DDR
Processor : Athlon 1800
OS : WIndows XP Home

45131 2002-04-22 23:18:00 The Creative chip is sometimes an option - check on the layout for the board where the creative chip is and see if it exists on your board, or there is just an empty space with a lot of solder fingers. The board contains the AC97 codec and may contain the creative. If you have no midi, check, under 'multimedia' in control panel that the 'microsoft wavetable synth synth' is enabled. Guest (0)
