45149 2002-04-23 03:26:00 The beef I have is that they're changing their terms of service. I signed up for an unlimited account, not a capped account. I doubt my surfing habits will ever lead to exceeding the 5 gig cap, so I'm unlikely to be affected by it.

Sort of like going to an 'all you can eat' restaurant for dinner and halfway through being told that your payment now only covers one course.

45150 2002-04-23 03:35:00 For me it comes down to the principle of it.........at xmas they did the big push to get everyone signed up for Jetstart.....all the hype about unlimited traffic free connections...and bang..within a few months they are cutting the services back.

I can live on a 5gig cap....some month's it's more some it's less...but it comes down to the fact of a lesser service for the same money.....

It is a fact all ISP's will follow suite and cap now....but I think my money will be going to another ISP....plus our cellphones...and our toll calls.......

If Telecom/Xtra want to curb back their services then fine...I will curb back the services we get from them...

45153 2002-04-24 02:01:00 As you can guess by the name the only thing I use Crapstart for is online gaming.I dont host games just join them. There has not been a day in over a year where I can play for an hour without the conection Lagging out.As I work in the industry as an engineer I have conducted tests on Crapstarts speed and what I've found is that a dialup is on average faster!
Most overseas dsl line testers think I'm running a 33.6.I don't care about the cap.I want the 128Kbs that I pay for.

45154 2002-04-24 07:03:00 far. . telecome should drop the price, or increas the speed, and i recon if as many ppl as could would write a actually leter (arrhh the thought of paying $00.40c for telecome !!) and complain maybe the will get the idea.

and hey whats all ur thoughts on that world net??,
i'm keen to leave telecom just to prove my point. haha lol i'd rather crap my half eaten buffey meal out and give it back to them

45155 2002-04-24 07:58:00 This looks like some form of sick joke. Why the download cap? What will you achieve by this? How does my download affect others' use of the internet? No faster, no additional benefits; this will drive customers away, not attract them! In some months in the past my address has downloaded 9 or 10 Gb; are you seriously asking us to PAY $400 or $500 PER MONTH for this??

Why have you improved the download (over 56k modems etc) by the introduction of ADSL technology, then stymed this advance by placing speed and download restrictions?

I am a long time customer, I was in the initial 10,000 customers when you started up in 1995 (we got some special deal for being 'in the first 10,000 customers' - are you trying to drive my loyalty away??

Your comments please.

45156 2002-04-25 09:15:00 sigh.....good old Telecom/Xtra again. I tell ya if there's 1 'service' I hate almost as much as the IRD it's Telecom/Xtra.
Thankfully InSPire have a 10gb cap that they only enforce if they are of the opinion that you are abusing the service. But even that eats at me, I mean I signed up for an 'Always on, flat rate' account. Now they tell me that yeah it's always on, but if your always using it it'll cost ya a fortune!! they talk of abusing the service by downloading so much data, but if it's a flat rate account, I can't see how they can call it abuse, the all you can eat resteraunt example is a good one, it's all you can eat, not all you can eat until we don't like how much you've eaten....sigh. And I could go on about how now I'm paying the same amount of money for less of a service, and how 128k isn't really broadband by international standards, but hey I've waffled on too much already.

Hehe good to have a vent every now and then :-P

45157 2002-04-28 06:06:00 I agree that 128k is too slow, telecom should increase it to 256k so that it could be an alternative to Clear Tempest and other wireless solutions.

However I don't think the data cap is anything to be concerned over - a signifiant number of isp's still offer unlimited data - and isp's like net4u are way faster than xtra (I'm getting at least 16k a sec internationally, sometimes 20k :)

But the question remains, when are telecom going to expand their adsl options to include unlimited 256-512k??

45158 2002-05-08 22:38:00 I can't believe it.
Telecom is going to past.
NZ is already behind in Internet service.
If I can use no-traffic-limit and no-speed-limit then I'll pay even $100.

Look. There more than 8 Mil
people out of 45 million using fast internet in korea.
(adsl + cable)
and they pay under $100.
Many of them are extreamly heavy users.(movie mania, running server at home, serving and download using mIRC...)

Telecom is stupid...
