45264 2002-04-23 12:10:00 I am using opera, sometimes when i post or respond to a post on pressf1, there apears to be no responce at all after i hit the post button. After a few minutes i figure, hell, it obviously didn't work... WRONG!!! Once again i have multiple posted because my browser failed to respond in anyway that might indicate the post was sent. Does this happen with other browsers? Is there anyway of stopping it? Is the problem with the server, me, or something in transit? Guest (0)
45265 2002-04-23 13:01:00 Hi chris,

Don't panic and throw out Opera yet. It seems to happen to all of us at some stage or other, even the Linux boys.

I'm using IE6 which works perfectly 99.9% of the time. Its only this site where I have the 0.1% problem,ie. Clicking post taking forever, accidental multis etc. It only seems to be an intermittent problem, so no problem really. Its just one of those things.

Cheers.

45266 2002-04-23 13:05:00 It's just one of those things that seems to happen with Opera.

I always assume that the post has gone through, because *generally* if you click the button the post has been made.

45267 2002-04-23 19:21:00 I use Opera 6 as well.Glad it happens to someone else as I was going to post same problem as well.I was going nuts wondering did my post go through or not??

I now always assume that it HAS gone through to the extent I will wait a few minutes if it appears that it hasn't gone and then check F1 homepage to see if my post has been accepted. I simply just leave the post there, Ctrl+N and carrry on surfin'. Nothing more embarrassing I reckon for regular users to multipost (is that a word?).

BTW what's your thoughts on the new Opera 6.01 is there a big difference between this and my current version?
I have only had Opera6 about 2 months. I spied new verson on latest Internet mag I bought yesterday.

45268 2002-04-23 22:04:00 Even 'responding' to posts can too result in the same effect.

Just go to the posting you responded to and click the 'view icon'. This way you can tell you if your post was successful, even during those slow and busy moments.

45269 2002-04-23 22:21:00 Wow! i even got a message after 4 minutes, saying 'server has cut connection' or something, but the last post still worked!
As a matter of interest, does anyone get this problem with other browsers? If so i can understand why the site is often littered with multiposts.

45270 2002-04-24 10:50:00 I'm using NS6.22 as well as ZoneAlarm and while clicking the post button appears to do nothing if I look at the NS animated box top right and at the ZA strip I can see activity. It is loading the PressF1 mainpage again and hence the delay.
The cure is to hit the post button once and only once.

45271 2002-04-24 13:03:00 Hey maybe a workaround for user stupidity lays with the way the site is configured??
Hey Gnomes,
How about a super small quickloaded page saying 'ta for the post', so newbies and those who should know better see that something did indeed happen, then the 'thankyou' could redirect back to the main page, at whatever speed is(n't) available????
