| 45386 | 2002-04-24 06:22:00 | I've seen the ad all over various sites...I get the feeling it regards adult nonsense sites...but does anyone have any thoughts +ve or -ve on the program itself? I might be selling my laptop and I wanted to clean the hard-drive without reformating. It seems to indicate that the prog is very thorough...Thanks | Guest (0) | ||

In terms of effectiveness, I will be even slightly generous to give it a score of 2. But be prepared to find that your computer one day will be cleaned out for good or even inopperable!!!. I'll give it credit for 'ease of use' and 'good design' and use of clearing out some entries inside your registry, but as for the rest, your find that nothing, I repeat NOTHING (to create emphisis) is really deleted!!!! How do you know? Just restart the computer and go back to the directory or files that you yourself already know that are considered as 'waste' and there all in black and white, your 'supposedly' deleted file still lives to tell its tale...... This is just another stunt to mislead consumers into buying a product that claims to abide to 'PROTECTING YOUR PRIVACY' as such Or even the case of showing small adverts that a former employee was caught surfing in Adult environments etc... I tried this product to see if this product actually lives to its name? Well, you can guess the rest.... Even better, you can still get the same benefit find some free programs that can also perform the same cleaining actions as with the likes of Evidence Eliminator, that will do an even better job. This program also fails to clean your swap file on Windows 2000 machines; not sure about Windows XP. Another member of the family to add to the list would be the 'Internet Eraser' My recommendation is just stick to the basics!!! |

You can delete items specifically and also clean the empty space on the drive. EE is a good gimick but if you wanted to remove personal files and tracks from a computer I would certainly look at something better. As with anything though, if someone really wanted to look at your computer, there are tools not available to the general public that allows this to be done. Mike Lundy discovered that when he 'cleaned' his computer upto 5 times and yet the police were still able to recover some info from it. Your ESIR I think it is can do some amazing things with cleaned computers though it can be a time consuming job. |
