45532 2002-04-25 01:49:00 Through not updating my AVG virus checker regularly my PC (Win 98,IE6)got infected with the Klez virus. After running VAG I was told, that 23 infected files had to be put into the 'Vault' The folder which was created is named '$vault$.avg'.What is it's purpose, - can I delete it, - or should I hang on to it? Would be very grateful, if someone could let me know what to do.Thanks. Guest (0)
45533 2002-04-25 02:38:00 If these files could not be disinfected and made clean, then the only reason I can see for keeping them would be to identify them so that fresh program and system files could be re-installed.

Have you found anything not working?

45534 2002-04-25 03:17:00 Thanks Terry, yes quite a few programmes are not working anymore and had to be reinstalled. Each of the 23 folders got the name of the programme affected listed at the top.Anything after that are huge ammounts of symbols and caracters which don't make any sense to me at all.
