| 45528 | 2002-04-25 01:43:00 | My PC Rebooted, a mysterious and intermittant hardware fault somewhere, however most times Windows ME recovers OK, except now. The PC rebooted while I was recovering my email in Outlook Express 6, now I get an error message that says an Outlook Express Store File may be damaged. I have tried using scandisk as the message suggests, however scandisk only goes partway before restarting. It also displays a message that a program is currently writing to a file causing scandisk to restart, even though only scandisk is running. My guess is that it is the corrupted store file. Anyone got any ideas? | Guest (0) | ||

Press Ctl.Alt.Del once and repeat as required to close all the programs running in your system box except for systray and explorer. Now try and do your scandisk or defrag. Or. Reboot into safe mode and run both your scandisk and defrag from there. To get into Safe Mode restart and as the computer starts to boot up, start clicking the F8 key (exact key may vary between systems but F8 is the common one), you will be offered several options, select Start in Safe Mode. Upon finishing the scandisk and defrag restart back into normal windows. Sorry cannot help you with the random reboots, my neice had that problem for a short time, what the problem was, was never discovered. |
