45547 2002-04-25 04:33:00 Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Finaly got the nerve to try Spider again. BIG SUCCESS! thanks to you and Peter H for your help, the instructions were perfect, very easy for a newbie to follow. One question if that's OK?
There are 2 things to tick,
1. Windows Directory Only
2. Complete Hard drive
Do I tick both, or one at a time, or just one or the other? Thanks once again.
Jane.

45548 2002-04-25 05:20:00 Congrats!! Checking my settings, I have 'windows only' ticked. I also tick 'delete all files created by spider' after noticing that it kept a list - that was getting fairly big - of everything it deleted. Now have just 4 items in the Spider folder. Shortcut to, spider exe, spider help and spiderbite exe. Bye for now Guest (0)
45549 2002-04-25 10:08:00 Jane, that's really good to hear. You had me biting my nails for a while! LOL

As far as choosing to scan your hard drive or just the Windows directory is concerned, I think you only need to scan the hard drive if there are files stored in places other than in the Windows. That's normally unlikely so it's probably not necessary to scan the entire hard drive.

It won't hurt to try it once - I do it sometimes but I can't see any files that are not from the Win folder so I usually just do the latter.

I also do the same as Peter and tick all the other options. If you read my other posts in Sam's thread earlier this week you would have found out that sometimes it appears as though Spider hasn't worked and didn't delete anything. It seems that if there are a lot of files then Spider needs to be run two or three times (rebooting each time) to flush them all out.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you got it sorted.
